Yellow Toadstool< |
Description The Yellow Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral is referred to as Sarcophyton Coral, Mushroom, Leather, or Trough Corals. When fully open, the tops of these toadstool leather corals are covered with numerous polyps about 1 cm in length. It is difficult to identify many species because they all have the similar appearance of a mushroom or toadstool, each with a distinct stalk and capitulum (cap). As they grow older, they develop a folded appearance. The Yellow Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral is relatively peaceful, but adequate space should be provided between them and other corals in the reef aquarium. Sarcophyton Leather Corals are easy to maintain in the reef aquarium and make an excellent coral for the beginning through expert reef aquarist. Description Green Kenya Tree coral is a great coral species if you are just starting out or are just starting to get interested in fragging corals (coral propagation). The Kenya Tree coral, Capnella sp., is a hardy soft coral species that is tolerant of a range of living conditions, which makes it great for beginner aquarists. As its name implies, the Kenya Tree Coral is shaped like a tree with a thick trunk and beautiful branches. A leather coral from the Indo Pacific regions of the world. It is known to be a quick grower given proper lighting and good water flow. Kenya Tree Corals will grow back from the tiniest little bit of flesh left behind and holds fast to any substrate to which it attaches. Like most “Leather” corals, Capnella will routinely shed a “mucous tunic” to clear itself of algae, debris, etc. This is generally observed by the colony closing for a period of hours to days, followed by a shedding of a thin clear film that may take one to several days to complete. Colonies kept in higher flow areas will “shed” less often. Care Level Easy |

Description
The Devil's Finger Coral Lobophytum sp. is a very easy coral to care for and to propagate. They produce less mucous, and are more forgiving than other leather corals. The great variety of color and shape that this genus has can offer make it a desired coral for even the advanced aquarist. The stalks of the Devil's Finger Coral are fat and short, with compact "heads" or clusters at the top of the coral. These clusters are crowded together, tending to fold or create finger-like extensions or lobes. Thus the common names include Finger Leather Corals, Lobed Leather Coral, Thick Finger Coral, Devil's Hand Coral, and Cabbage Leather Coral. Care Level Easy |
