Approximate Purchase Size: 1-1/2" to 2 " of actual coral on a base of roughly 2".

Description: The Blue Polyp Montipora Capricornis is an SPS (small polyp stony) coral that forms large spiralling leafy plates. Montipora corals come in so many different forms and colors. This light green Montipora is dotted with electric blue polyps and heavy actinic lighting will make them glow like neon. Its best to place this beautiful coral low in the rock work, so that it won’t shade any animals growing underneath its horizontal structure. Also called a Vase coral by some, montipora corals come in many colors and grow into the most beautiful shapes. Aquacultured Montipora Capricornis are one of the easier SPS corals to grow and maintain. They grow fairly quick in an established reef aquarium.

Difficulty Easy

Aggressiveness Peaceful

Water-flow This coral requires moderate to high water flow

Lighting This coral requires moderate lighting (PAR 200-300) (at least 3 watts per gallon), to maintain its color. T5's, Metal Halides, or LED's can all grow sps when the proper levels are provided. We recommend a 14-20K color spectrum for best coloration.

Placement .Place this one on an exposed area of rock or ledge in the aquarium where it will receive direct flow and light. Montipora Capricornis will grow beautiful into the most beautiful shaped colonies.

Diet and Feeding This coral is photosynthetic. Meaning a good portion of its nutrition comes from the algae zooxanthellae, through the light they receive. We recommend additional feeding weekly for faster growth. Feed a micro-plankton reef aquarium food designed for filter feeding invertebrates. Target feeding gets the corals fed using less food while keeping your nitrates and phosphates lower.
