Premium Snowflake Clownfish
Amphiprion ocellaris
Description:
Premium Snowflakes are an especially striking form of A. ocellaris. Just like those super cooled
droplets of water called snowflakes, no two of these unique fish look alike. They have an impressive amount of irregular white markings on the body.
The edges of the white coloration will typically be jagged and angular. These elegant fish are carefully selected by experienced graders into Premium
Grade Snowflake Clownfish and Grade A Snowflake Clownfish. Premiums are the picks of the litter and always in short supply. Experienced graders look for
premium features such as very unusual stripes and/or markings on the face and head that have been recognized as very desirable patterns. They always
consider the oddness and rarity of the patterns, making each fish a unique specimen. In the Grade A Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish the body stripes will have
irregular edges and all three body stripes are distinguishable. On both the Premium and on the Grade A Snowflake the black outlines around the white get darker and thicker when the fish matures.
This starts happening at between 10 and 12 months of age. Since Premium and Grade A Snowflakes are sold between 7 and 8 months of age expect the amount of black and the thickness of the black lines
to increase on both the Premium and on the Grade A Snowflake Clownfish. Also, on both Premium and Grade A Snowflake Clownfish often times when they mature the edges of their white
markings will develop a baby blue hue.
