Description: Green Gracilaria, Gracilaria verrucosus, is commonly encountered in the aquarium trade. It is a deep green macroalgae that grows in a floating mass of fronds known as thalli. Also called "Ogo" macro algae, the usual stated purpose in the saltwater aquarium or refugium is for the removal of excess nutrients such as nitrate's and phosphate's that build up in the tank's water. By keeping the aquarium water low in nutrients nuisance algae's such as Bryopsis and Valonia are unable to grow. Green Gracilaria also serves as a great food source for hungry fish. Feed Fish such as Tangs, Angelfish, and many more. It improves fish coloration, and improves health. You will see a more energetic behavior in your fish when they eat live algae. Grow Green Gracilaria Saltwater plants macro algae either in your aquarium or in the Refugium to have a constant supply of live nutritious Green gracilaria macro algae to feed fish.
