Description: Purple Montipora digitata coral is a very fast growing branching montipora species, aquacultured in the USA. When the polyps are extended, purple montipora digitata has a very fuzzy appearance. One of the easier to maintain SPS corals in the reef aquarium, Purple montipora digitata does well under a variety of lighting such as T5's, LED's, or metal halide. The coral does best with approximately 3 watts per gallon, alter the coral position depending on the lighting system used. For waterflow, provide a medium water level of water flow, not to hard a flow on the coral but not to low a water flow either. For best health we recommend calcium, strontium, and trace elements be added to the water. Finally the Purple Montipora digitata coral is a peaceful SPS coral and can be placed in close proximity to other similar peaceful corals in the reef aquarium. All you need to leave is enough room for continued growth.

Difficulty Easy

Aggressiveness Peaceful

Water-flow This coral requires moderate water flow

Lighting This coral requires moderate to bright lighting (PAR 300-450) to maintain its bright colors. T5's, Metal Halides, or LED's can all grow sps when the proper PAR levels are provided. We recommend a 14-20K color spectrum for best coloration.

Placement .Place this one on an exposed rock or ledge in the aquarium where it will receive direct flow and light. Montipora Digitata will encrust the rock and grow beautiful branched colonies.

Diet and Feeding This coral is photosynthetic. Meaning a good portion of its nutrition comes from the algae zooxanthellae, through the light they receive. We recommend for feeding to use Oyster-Feast and/or Roti-Feast. Target feeding gets the corals fed using less food while keeping your nitrates and phosphates lower.
