The Green Apple Scolymia Coral, Scolymia australis, from Australia are an LPS (large polyp stony) coral that is also commonly called a Scoly, Doughnut, Artichoke, or Disk coral. No matter what color they are, Scolymia australis will always be round and solitary corals with either a cup, saucer, or dome shape to it. Scolymia corals for the most part have a single mouth opening in the center, but there are some species that have been found with multiple mouth's . Not an aggressive coral, they still must be provided with a good amount of space between itself and any other corals because they expand to over twice their size during the day. Scoly's make an excellent choice for both the beginner and advanced reef aquarist.

Water-flow
It requires slow to medium at most water flow.
Lighting
It requires moderate lighting (PAR 100-150). T5's, Metal Halides, or LED's can all grow Scolymia corals when the proper PAR levels are provided. We recommend a 14-20K color spectrum for best coloration.
Tank Recommendations
For placement keep in mind that it will do best on the bottom of the reef aquarium, preferably lying on a fine sandy substrate. Scoly corals often inflate themselves with water and expand to over twice their size so enough room must be left for both the expansion and for its sweeper tentacles which can extend beyond its body.
Diet and Feeding
Feed meaty foods such as liquid micro-plankton, frozen mysis shrimp or brine shrimp.
