Carpenter's Fairy Wrasse
Paracheilinus carpenteri
Picture of Carpenter’s fairy wrasse, Paracheilinus carpenteri You Tube Video Carpenter's Fairy Wrasse

Description: These wonderful fish make a fascinating display in the peaceful community tank or reef tank! Also called the Redfin Flasher Wrasse or Pinkfin Flasher Wrasse, Males are most spectacular when they "flash" (display) toward other fishes or their reflections in the aquarium glass. An interesting side note is that all male Flasher Wrasse colors will intensify when in courtship is in process. Therefore by putting in a group of Carpenter Flashers with a male and females both present, that way the males will be more likely to frequently present their colorful displays. A perfect reef and home aquarium fish, the Carpenteri Flasher's adult size is around 3 inches.

Tank Recommendations: A 30 gallon or larger aquarium, either fish-only or reef, with a shaded area is recommended. A 2-3 inch sand bed so they can bury themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. Live Rock should be provided for all Fairy and Filament Wrasses. The Live Rock provides numerous small life forms that the Wrasses consider a tasty treat as well as another place to hide when they feel threatened. Note: Wrasses are known to jump from aquariums. Be sure to have some sort of covering with no large open holes that they can escape from.

Food and diet:Flasher wrasses have a high metabolism and should be fed several small meals a day rather than two large meals. Best practice is to use a refugium as part of the system’s filtration. This will provide a constant food supply of small live foods (e.g. copepods). A regular diet should include vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods along with a high quality marine flake and marine pellet food.

Tailspot Blenny

Description: Tail Spot Blennies are a great fish for smaller tanks. They are extremely peaceful and easy to take care of demanding a tank size of around ten gallons to meet its needs. They grow up to approximately 2 inches. They like to hangout in crevices and rocks where they can perch or hide. To keep these fish it is a great idea to have a good amount of live rock so that they are able to graze on the algae and also be given plenty of places to hide. In smaller tanks they can help keep algae in check, but in larger systems since so small they would have a hard time keeping up.

Recommended Tank size: 10 gallon

Feeding and Diet: It will feed on the aquariums natural algae helping to keep it under control. Supplement with vegetable matter, frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae and herbivore preparations.

Macneill's Assessor Basslet
Assessor randalli
Picture of Macneill's Assessor Basslet

Identification: Macneill's Assessor Basslets are an extremely hardy and attractive species that is also referred to as MacNeill's Mini Grouper or Blue Assessor Basslet. Frequently seen hanging around in caves, overhangs and other shaded areas of the aquarium. Quite often they will do this upside down or vertically. The Macneill's Assessor will not bother invertebrates making it an excellent choice for reef aquariums but OK for fish-only aquariums too. Can be kept single or in small groups. Assessors are a very attractive, very hardy fish that makes a wonderful addition to tanks of any size, for aquarists of any experience level. They also do very well in "nano" aquariums due to their small maximum size of 3".

Tank Recommendations: For a single Macneill's Assessor, provide at least a 30 gallon tank (55+ gallons for 3 or more) and must be provided with plenty of live rock for caves, territory and shelter. Provide a fine sand substrate. A hood for the aquarium is recommended as they can be jumpers when they are startled. They are relatively peaceful and can usually be observed in close proximity to their favorite cave or are frequently seen cruising along the substrate and live rock searching zooplankton and other tiny crustaceans. They should be housed with peaceful to semi-aggressive tank mates, but multiple specimens should be added to the aquarium at the same time.
Food and diet: Assessors are carnivores and mainly eat zooplankton and other planktonic life in the wild. In an aquarium environment, they should be fed a variety of meaty food items such as live, frozen, freeze-dried, and vitamin enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, chopped krill, amphipods, copepods, cyclops, chopped squid, chopped fish, and chopped crab meat. They will also readily accept carnivore/omnivore (Spirulina based) pellets and flake foods. They should be fed twice a day and only what they consume within a few minutes.

Juvenile Koran Angelfish
Pomocanthus semicirculatus
Picture of Juvenile Koran Angel

Description: The juvenile Koran Angel is a favorite of many aquarists. A good choice for aquariums because juveniles angels always adapt quicker to captivity. Another point is that the Koran can successfully be kept with other full sized Angelfish, as long as the tank is large enough. When looking at the Koran angel you will notice many juvenile angels have a close Blue and White striped appearance to the Koran Angel. All have lines but the shapes of the lines are different. The Imperator has white lines in a full circle, The Blue Face Angel, straight white lines, and the Koran is half circles. That's why its scientific name is Semicirculatus.

Tank Recommendations: Max size for a Juvenile Koran is around 5 inches. Adult Koran Angelfish max size around 15 inches. There's psychological stress when a saltwater fish does not have a large enough room to have a territory of its own. It will often show in a break down of the immune response leading to disease. The tank must have live sand substrate and plenty of live rock for grazing, shelter, and territory. The minimum tank size for a Juvenile Koran is 100 gallons. If your planning to keep the Koran through Adult you need an aquarium of 180+ size. If multiple marine fish of a larger size will be housed we recommend a minimum 300+ gallons depending on the quantity and type of of fish you are planning.

Reef Compatibility:Will nip at sessile invertebrates such as nudibranchs, corals, and clams.

Food and diet: Feed your fish 2 or 3 Times a Day. Feed only proper Angelfish foods that contain vitamin supplements. Large Angelfish must get vitamin b12, vitamin d3, vitamin e, beta carotene, riboflavin, biotin, and niacin. We use Ocean Nutritions Frozen sponge based food called "Angel Formula". Especially formulated for marine Angelfish Ocean Nutritions frozen food blend contains their primary natural food, namely marine sponges, combined with fresh seafood, oyster meat, scallop roe, fresh seaweed Spirulina, and Nori. We also use and recommend Hikari's Mega Marine Angel food. It includes Sponge, sea algae, sea urchin, sea worms, plankton, krill, shrimp, clam, mussel, squid, spirulina, algae extract, and cod liver oil. Both are excellent frozen foods.

Juvenile French Angelfish
Pomacanthus paru
Picture of Juvenile French Angel fish

Description: The French angelfish (Pomacanthus paru) is a large angelfish of the family Pomacanthidae, found in the western Atlantic from New York and the Bahamas to Brazil, and also the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. Common in shallow reefs, occurs usually in pairs often near sea fans. In the wild they feed on sponges, algae, bryozoans, zoantharians, gorgonians and tunicates. The French Angelfish Pomacanthus paru is a handsome fish that's quite durable and has a great personality. Juveniles specimens are very colorful and much sought after by aquarists, but even as adults they are quite attractive.

Tank Recommendations: Asfur Angelfish grow to an adult size of 16 inches in the wild and need to be kept in a tank of at least 180 gallons. The psychological stress which comes from a saltwater fish not having its necessary size will often show in a break down of the immune response leading to disease. If multiple marine fish of a larger size will be housed we recommend a minimum 250 to 300 gallons. The Asfur Angelfish is a docile angel, in the wild the Asfur likes caves, crevices or rocky places with plenty of protection, therefore supply your tank with plenty of live rock for hiding places and provide a good live sand bottom.

Purple Dottyback
Pseudochromis porphyreus
Picture of Purple Dottyback

Identification: :Also known by the common name Magenta Dottyback, what makes this particular species so appealing? Maybe it is its dazzling purple coloration, or perhaps it has something to do with its interestingly curious nature. A 10 gallon or larger aquarium is the correct size. Using live rock, provide ample hiding places, caves, crevices for the fish to go within, seek as home, or use as a hiding place when necessary.

Food and diet: Dottybacks are carnivorous and naturally prey upon small shrimp, amphipods, copepods and bristleworms. In the aquarium they should be fed a variety of meaty foods such as live, frozen, freeze-dried, and vitamin enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped mysis shrimp, finely chopped krill and other sea foods; as well as carnivore/omnivore pellets and flake foods.

Description: The Clown triggerfish is an eye-catching species and the most popular trigger species. It is also as far as we know the only triggerfish that has been bred in home aquariums. They have a rather long lifespan and can grow to be over 10 years in aquariums and even older in the wild. The Clown triggerfish prefers an aquarium that has a lot of caves and a few overhangs to explore, but also a lot of open space to swim in. It is important to provide it with a couple of suitably sized caves to sleep in.

Food and diet: Clown triggerfish should be fed a varied diet consisting of many different types of meaty foods including: chopped shrimp, squid, clams or fish. It is also good to provide frozen foods that contain marine algae and are enhanced with vitamins and minerals.

Helfrichi Firefish
Nemateleotris helfrichi
Picture of Helfrichi Firefish
Identification: Helfrich's firefish are beautifully colored, peaceful toward other fishes small enough to be easily housed in most aquariums, easy to feed, and not at all prone to disease. Firefish pose no threat to invertebrates and are thus ideal for reef aquariums. For the best possible aquarium the Firefish requires a 20-gallon or larger system with moderate lighting and a moderate current passing over the live rock "reef." When putting together a tank containing firefish, remember when stressed they will try to jump out of your aquarium.

Food and diet: Feed frozen crustaceans of suitable size, such as Artemia or copepods (i.e., red plankton), finely chopped mysis or krill, and fish roe are good staple foods. Flake foods will also be taken provided they are broken into small-enough pieces and preferably presented in midwater, as firefishes sometimes have difficulty learning to feed from the surface.

Low prices on marine life like you wll never see anywhere else. We sharpened our pencil to give you the lowest prices possible on saltwater aquarium fish, a huge selection of live corals, and marine invertebrates including some rare one's not often found! Beyond the fact of our enormous variety, as of 2021, there are no other marine life distributors that have their facilities designed for the long term holding of saltwater fish, live coral and invertebrates as Aquarium Creations has. All incoming saltwater aquarium fish, live coral, and marine invertebrates go to our long term holding facility, after acclimation and are held there for a period of time from 15 days to 30 days, releasing to our ship out facilities only when confident of the health and quality of the specimens. In our long term systems, the animal's stress level remains low and feeding response well above what short term shippers see and provide. The benefits are many. Any problems are discovered while the marine life is at our holding facility not after delivery to our customers. All marine life is shipped stronger, more stress-free, eating so much better, with good stomachs and in better condition then "ocean fresh" fish could ever be shipped. We hope you too will order now and see the large difference.
