Battery-Operated Air Pumps

Battery-Operated Air Pumps are the aquarist's best friend in the event of a neighborhood power failure. When operating in the home aquarium during a power failure, the battery-operated air pump will help keep your fish and invertebrates alive. When building a home aquarium don't forget to add either an automatic system such as the Automatic Backup Air Pump shown below, or have on hand one or more Battery Operated Air Pumps shown below. The quantity of back up air pumps you will need to keep on hand will depend on the size your aquarium. Besides keeping a battery-powered air pumpor pumps on hand, be sure to have nescessary airline tubing, and airstones on hand.

 Automatic Backup Air Pump

Power outages? No problem! This air pump has a built-in transformer and rechargeable battery. When plugged into 115VAC, the air pump operates continuously, while keeping the battery charged. When the AC power shuts off (or is removed intentionally), it automatically switches to its internal battery and keeps running. It will also double as a DC air pump for an unlimited length of time when using an external 12V power source. Sorry, the internal rechargeable battery is not replaceable. One pump's output is good to handle 100 gallons of water. If a larger tank is used, purchase multiple units to supply adequate air to precious livestock.
