Sample specimens include Acans, Finger Leathers, Torch, Frogspawns Mushroom Corals, Brain Corals, Zoanthid Corals, Nuclear Trumpets, just to name a few.
This coral package includes your choice of 3, 6, or 12 hardy corals of different LPS (large polyp stony) and soft corals (zoanthid, paly, sinularia, nepthia, mushrooms, etc.) corals. The assortment of corals will be a good mix of type (see our website corals for typical types) and color. This is a great deal as you will get 100% healthy corals at a low cost per coral. All of the corals included are photosynthetic and do not require daily feedings!
All of the corals within the Hardy LPS & Soft Coral Package require a low to moderate level of lighting. Lighting can be Power compacts, T5's, LED's or even Metal Halides. All lighting can grow LPS and Softies as long as the proper level of light is provided. If a Par meter is available the appropriate lighting level is anywhere from a Par 80 all the way to a Par 180. Which is a wide range of acceptability. For lighting spectrum use between a 14-20K color spectrum for your bulbs for best coral coloration.
For water movement the Hardy LPS & Soft Coral Package requires moderate water flow within the aquarium. This is best accomplished with a single or multiple powerheads dependent on tank size, with or without a wavemaker. They do need good water quality maintained, so a protein skimmer and frequent water changes are very helpful, therefore recommended.
Diet and Feeding
All of the corals included are photosynthetic and do not require daily supplemental feedings. Another words, all these corals contain zooxanthellae inside their body, so they are able to get most of their required nutrients just through your tank lighting. This is why it is important to have at least moderate levels of lighting in your tank. Soft Corals and LPS Corals also filter nutrients from the water and collect microplankton and zooplankton through their polyps. Even though their own processes provide most of their necessities, still they benefit from the occasional spot feeding. You can feed small pieces of meaty marine foods such as brine shrimp, Cyclopeze, or one of the many liquid foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates and corals. Additional supplements of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements is also important for continued good health.
