If food is scarce simply supplement by feeding pellet food, dried nori algae, or small pieces of fresh seafood.

Dwarf Blue Leg Hermit Crab(Clibanarius tricolor): Good help in removing hair algae and detritus, and fair at removing some kinds of cyanobacteria and film algae from your tank. They will spend their time on the rocks and on the substrate of your aquarium, with a preference for the rocks. They can reach most cracks and crevices and will not bother fish, corals or other invertebrates.

Dwarf Red Tip Hermit Crab(Clibinarius digueti): They are an omnivore, highly desirable in reef tanks because they have a voracious appetite for nuisance bacteria and algae including green hair and red slime algae(cyanobacteria). The Dwarf Red Tip eats leftover meaty foods left in the tank by other tankmates. They can reach most cracks and crevices and will not bother fish, corals or other invertebrates. The fact that the Red Tip species is extremely reef safe, have made it one of the best crabs for an aquarium clean up crew.

Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab(Paguristes cadenati): A superb algae eater, and will eat diatoms, filamentous algae and cyanobacteria on your aquarium's glass and rocks. It is very useful in keeping reef aquariums clean and free of undesirable algae.

Emerald Crab(Mithrax sculptus): - These scavengers are algae eating machines and help rid an aquarium of various types of nuisance algae including Bubble algae (valonia), green hair algae (filamentous), and other complex macroalgae's. They also scavenge uneaten food, sifting through the sand for food and decaying organics.
