Mushroom Corals

Mushroom Corals are a hardy and easy to maintain species, which also are very colorful and enjoyable to keep. Referred to as Mushroom corals, Mushroom Anemones, and Disc Anemones. They vary in color with the common colors being blues, greens, orange, purple, and reds. They also can be found with dots, stripes and patterns. Many mushroom corals will fluoresce when kept under actinic lighting. With proper parameters and care your mushroom corals will reproduce covering rock work and nearby sand.

Description The Super Red Mushroom comes from Australia. This species, was recently added to the Discosoma family. Like other Discosoma mushrooms there are many variations of the Red color from brighter to darker. Red is not a common color in aquaria, well at least a true Red. These mushrooms are a welcome member, adorning an area of rock with their beautiful Super Red color. Besides their impressive color, Super Red Mushrooms grow to 3"-4" in diameter.

Description

Neon Green Hairy Mushroom Coral are all covered extensively with small, delicate hair-like tentacles and can grow to approximately 4 inches in diameter. They grow very densely, often covering the rock completely. These mushrooms will grow and reproduce by fission in the aquarium when provided with the proper environment. A perfect soft coral for low to mid section of the reef aquarium. It is a very easy to maintain coral, and a good choice for the beginner.

Description The Green Mushroom Coral (Actinodiscus sp.) is a hardy and easy to maintain species, which is also very colorful and enjoyable to keep. Green Mushroom Corals are also referred to as Mushroom Anemones, Actinodiscus Mushroom and Disc Anemones. This variety of mushroom coral varies in color from a light blue/green to an emerald green depending on lighting and aquarium conditions. They will also fluoresce when kept under actinic lighting.

The Lavender Mushroom is also called the Purple Hairy Mushroom. It is another member of the Rhodactis genus that is easy to care for. They are similar to the Green Hairy Mushroom Rhodactis indosinensis, yet different. This can be confusing since both of these mushrooms are often just simply called 'Hairy Mushrooms'. The Purple Hairy Mushroom grows only to about 3 inches. It does not grow nearly as large as the Green Hairy Mushroom which often will grow 5" to 7" in size.
