SPS Coral placement is very important. The distance your SPS corals are from the aquarium lighting is something you will figure out over a period of time, but to begin place the corals half the distance down in the reef aquarium. If they do well for a week or two, now try moving them higher in the reef tank just two or three inches and now again give the one's you moved up a week or two, watching them closely to see if the SPS Corals moved can handle the stronger lighting. Once again, if your SPS do well for a week or two, try moving them this time only an inch higher in the reef tank. Work to find those sweet spots, look for any changes and watch the corals closely to see if perhaps they'd be better a little further down in the rockwork.
Once you know the spot is good for a coral, be sure to take notes, because the next SPS coral of the same species will most likely enjoy the same light level. There is solid evidence that SPS corals grow faster when they are firmly mounted to rock. You may mount your sps corals with any of the 2-part putty or you can use any of the Super Glue Gel's. Before mounting in place your corals keep in mind that you must have space for grow out, and if any of the SPS corals are to close to other SPS corals, they will sting one another and often you will loose a coral, so make sure there's enough room.
