Talbot's Damselfish
Chrysiptera talboti
Picture of Talbot's Damselfish
Identification: The Talbot's Damsel, Chrysiptera talboti is a very good looking Damselfish to keep. It's small in size, reaching only 2 1/3 inches long, an active swimmer, and a great eater. It has the mellowest sweetest temperament you will ever find in a damselfish with behaviors more like an even tempered clownfish relative than a Damselfish. In fact the Talbot’s Damsel gets along well with many peaceful companions. A hardy fish, makes it a great fish for a beginner or any saltwater enthusiast looking for a good looking easy to take care of saltwater fish.

Tank Recommendations: The Talbot’s Damsels are great for any peaceful community tank. They need a minimum tank size of 20 gallons for one. They get along with peaceful fish in larger tanks that are at least 40 gallons. Of course, if you are going to have larger fish like a large surgeonfish or tang, the tank size should fit the needs of the largest fish. These damsels also make a great addition to a reef tank because they will not bother any corals or invertebrates. Rock work or coral in and around all areas of the tank can provide lots of hiding places, which will keep them content. They do not need any special lighting or water movement, but they do prefer to hang out at the bottom of the tank. They will burrow under rocks, a large shell, or a coral, and then retreat into their little home at night, so a sandy bottom is preferred.

Food and diet: They are are not picky eaters and will happily accept just about any foods you offer.

Description: The Diamond Goby is also called the Orange Spotted Diamond Goby, the Pretty Prawn goby or the the Maiden goby. The Diamond Watchman will usually dig a burrow underneath a rock in your aquarium, in which it will sleep and hide when frightened. Not only is it a very beautiful fish, but it is also quite beneficial for aquariums, since it will oxygenate the sand bed and stir up any waste. The name "Watchman" comes from their behavior in the wild, where they act as watchmen for the shrimp. The Diamond Goby is known to take an aquarium that has been ignored, filthy with detritus, and working non stop it starts passing the sand through its gills and makes the sand white again. It also seems to enjoy stacking sand in little mounds, which can be an interesting sight to behold.

Tank Recommendations: The ideal aquarium should have plenty of room at the bottom and a sandbed of at least two inches in depth. When startled or threatened, they have been known to jump out of uncovered aquariums. Always keep the tank covered and provide plenty of hiding places to retreat to.

Food and diet: They continually feed off the bottom while sifting through the sand. They also need to be fed a balanced diet of frozen foods including live and frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, black worms, and other prepared foods for carnivores. We suggest feeding twice a day.
